09/30/17 - Marshall Thundering Herd @ Cincinnati Bearcats

Posted on

When the 2017 schedule was announced, there wasn't much to get excited about, outside of the long awaited road trip to the Big House.  The Marshall game, however, has had a circle around it for a while...

Maybe it's the relative proximity of Huntington to Cincinnati (<3 hour drive)...maybe it's the fond memory of sold out Nippert Stadium on September 22, 2007 and a 40-14 victory (perhaps the first real coming out party for Bearcats fans...Nippert was a ZOO that night!!)...maybe it's because Marshall fans are known to show great support for the team and travel in droves (and that reminds us of the good old days of loving to hate WVU and their fans).  Regardless, we'll be facing a regional team that often out performs their conference "status"...and we don't get to do that much these days, so we'll embrace any opportunity that we do!

This game is a RING OF RED, so please dress accordingly (hopefully Marshall wears all green and TV viewers get a flashback to the 2015 Bills-Jets Color Rush game).

Some options here:

Tailgate info:

What:  Cincinnati Bearcats host the Marshall Thundering Herd.

When:  Saturday, September 30.  Kickoff is at 7pm.  We will be setup in time to watch 12pm kickoffs that week (some good matchups include USF @ ECU & Houston @ Temple)

Where:  Tailgate Alley at the Grid, Sigma Sigma Commons, University of Cincinnati main campus - spot #3.  Park in a garage or on nearby streets and walk over to the tailgate.  If you'll already be at The Grid, feel free to stop by to say hello!

(click for larger map)

Who:  All are welcome!  This is a "community" style tailgate - BYOB.  We always have extra food, but plan accordingly if you intend to eat.  Most importantly, prepare to make Nippert Stadium one of the best home field advantages in the country!

You're welcome (and encouraged) to contribute - feel free to bring some "community" beer to throw in the big, white cooler or stuff some money in the donation box located near the food table.  Contributions are not required but go a long way to helping our tailgate to grow.

Rules:  In order to ensure a good time for everyone, please review our basic rules for tailgating.
